Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) is better known under her real surname Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be associated with J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. Her first single was released from the label on October 21st of 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The release date was May of 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music to the internet in 2012 when she launched her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. Her uploads continued tracks online through 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. In the year 2015, she was featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on the track "Sweat it out" 21st July. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time, wanted to have her create Rihanna references. The day after Christmas, she confirmed that she had been officially signed by Dreamville Records. On the album Revenge of the Dreamers II She was on the track Backseat, along with Cozz. She dropped Pho, her debut EP on the 21st of October 21 in 2016. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act for J. Cole on his single Change in the year 2017 and did a performance on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she opted to guest feature on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang with Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. The music video then released in September. The second single she released was Grampa on the 9th November. On November 13, she released two additional singles, titled No One and Pdigree. Then she appeared in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single on February 26, 2019 for her debut album of the same name. In February of 2019, a music clip was released to accompany the track. It has already received over three million views on YouTube in its first week. She was the supporting act for 6LACK in their From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
